How To Have A Stress Free Wedding

Stress Free Wedding Planning in Hawaii

Maybe you’ve been engaged for months now.

Maybe you’ve been engaged a couple of weeks.

Maybe you got engaged last night!

Or you’re not engaged yet but you want to start planning your dream wedding!

No matter what the case is, one thing is for sure – decisions will have to be made.  We have seen our fair share of weddings and have helped countless couples plan the biggest day of their life.  So here’s five things to do after getting engaged that will help start planning your stress-free wedding.

Writing down some notes to have a stress free hawaii wedding

01. Know your numbers!

Sitting down with your fiance and setting a budget for every aspect of your wedding is the first step in planning. Paying for an entire wedding may seem like a daunting task in the beginning, but breaking it apart into approachable numbers can alleviate the financial stress of it all. Give yourself a budget to begin with.  Then, start jotting down the vendors and services you will consider paying for, along with a number you’re comfortable with spending.  Do you like flowers and you’re willing to spend $2,000 on bouquets, centerpieces, and other floral decors?  But what if your spouse to be wasn’t on the same page and thought it was only going to cost $500.  What about spending money on renting or buying a wedding dress? Live band? DJ? Remember, be realistic with what’s important to you. The more research you do, the better off you’ll be.

02. Pick a date!

Once your numbers are in place, picking a date can be next.  Maybe two or three dates if you’re willing to be flexible.  Of course, flexible dates are an option if you have your heart set on a specific venue (which we will bring up in a bit).  A date that is sooner or later will also play a part in how fast you’ll need to plan this wedding and also how much time you have to get your finances in place. Keep in mind that planning this wedding with a date in mind means you need to consider the availability of services, meeting with vendors to solidify the work to be done, and even prepare your eventual guest list.

03. Venue picking time!

Told you we would bring it up.  Picking a venue is interchangeable with the next thing on our list.  When most people hear venue, they hear, “Where are you getting married?”  What you really want to know is Where are you getting ready?  Where is the ceremony? Also, where’s the reception?  How much time and what did you have planned between the ceremony and reception?  All these locations play a vital role in planning your day.  We suggest (if you’re able to) going on a day-trip to visit all the potential venues.  It’s better than looking at images online.  Being able to stand at the venue to visualize everything will help you think about everything you’ll need for the day.

04. Hiring a coordinator?

Like we mentioned, you can either pick a venue first or a coordinator first.  Most couples have this as their number one and number two picks.  But why hire a coordinator?  If you hire someone who’s been doing this for years and knows what they are doing, then this will be a stress-free wedding.  When speaking to coordinators, be sure to ask what their role is.  A planner may differ in responsibilities compared to a day-of coordinator.  Also, looking at a coordinator may be beneficial because most have a preferred vendor list and that may benefit in monies saved. (Remember the first thing on this list?)

05. The Media Team!

Photography and videography!  The two vendors not only provide proof that your day happened, but they will also capture the memories you want to relive over and over.  After deciding on if you want a coordinator and picking a venue, most couples will pick their media team next.  These three vendors are going to be the ones you should hire first because normally they are the first to go.  A photographer will freeze a moment in time and seeing a photo hanging on your wall will instantly take you back.  A videographer can bring in all that joy, laughter, and tears from your wedding.  Remember the first thing on this list?  You spent a lot of money to plan this wedding.  You’ll want to remember it.  You want your story to be told.  You’ll want to leave a legacy and your media team can help you do that.

So there you have it!  These are your five quick tips to help you start planning your stress-free wedding.  After these five, there’s going to be a lot more planning to do.  Stick around and maybe we’ll be able to answer more of your questions.  After all is said and done, remember this: A wedding is a day, but marriage is a lifetime.
